and his name is...
"Hugh" we just love, "GB" is a tribute to Lucy's amazing Dad, and to an angel among us, our midwife, GB Khalsa. "Wallace" is a family name and a reference to William Wallace (Braveheart), whom I channeled often during labor. Pushing Hugh into FREEEEEEEEEEDOM! was surely a defining moment for all of us...

i took this picture just hours before labor started. these are my fall asters that bloom in the fall and spring to announce the season change. they popped open on Friday, October 5th, the day Hugh initiated labor. aren't they delightfully happy little flowers?
We are doing well, except that I'm nursing a vicious headache and trying to stay very quiet and restful. Hugh is nursing well, an expert side-laying nurser! We are so so so so thankful for the outpouring of love and well-wishes from everyone. We can feel a huge (in fact, infinite) circle of arms around us, holding us as we move through our first week together.
So much more to come...
