tooth!

It's official. Hugh FINALLY has one little chomper on the bottom. We finally resorted to sacrificing a chicken and eating its toenails to get this tooth in! kidding. only a little. His appetite is growing and we're trying more and more new foods every day. He continues to prefer beans - especially black beans and most especially if they're from Mother's Cafe in Hyde Park.

Here's mama#1b and Hughie being goofy:

And yes! Hugh has a rash on his cheek. It's been with us for quite a while. It gets better and then flares up again, but never goes completely away. At our wits end, we decided to consult with a chinese medicine doc. He scolded me for eating shellfish (huh?) and gave us a script for some raw herbs to brew and apply to the rash with gauze. We strategized that the best way to do this was when Hugh was asleep. Very laborious, but I have to say, I think it may have helped a little.

a big pot of herbs, cooked waaaaaay down, yielded just about 1/2 cup of tincture. smelled ok, but the taste? whoah. I'm so thankful these are just topical for little Hughie. woa.

And Hugh's second favorite passtime, besides chasing Evie, is sucking on the wood beads at the ends of the blinds in the windows. This activity is combined with sitting on the cushions of the day bed and pointing out birds. There's a big wooden bead at the end of that string that's in his mouth. I swear it's not a mouse's tail....

We *just* got this shirt and Hugh snagged it on a splinter in the hardwood floor. So, rather than toss it to goodwill, I decided to make art out of it. The appliqué is covering up the gaping hole. Nifty, eh? This is the softest cotton, EVER!
